11/22/2005 Head Coach Melanie Balcomb “I hope we took away some confidence from this game. We were finally able to get away from a team and hold them defensively. We should have confidence in our defense. It’s something we have focused on in practice.” On Vanderbilt’s Defense:
“These kinds of games are always tough to play. We don’t match up with them and they don’t match up with us. Their players were smaller than ours and so we had to open up with a lot of zone. Our defense got a workout. We have been in foul trouble every night so far, and we stayed out of foul trouble tonight. I think there was only one stretch tonight where we ran into some fouls. One goal we had going into tonight’s game was to limit our fouls and turnovers, and that’s what we did. We only had two turnovers in the second half.” Junior Caroline Williams: “Coach Balcomb was on me to shoot more tonight. I wasn’t ready. I passed up shots she wanted me to make. I was standing straight up rather than get down and be ready to shoot. I obviously would like to shoot more and it’s something I will definitely work on.” |
