Vanderbilt Plays Host to Cal State Northridge in Second Round of Las Vegas Holiday Invitational

Vanderbilt (2-0) welcomes visiting Cal State Northridge (0-1) to Memorial Gymnasium for second-round action of the Las Vegas Holiday Invitational Tuesday, Nov. 23. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.

The Commodores are coming off two telling wins over Toledo and Tennessee State. Vanderbilt showed its physical play against Toledo, outrebounding the Rockets 49-34 en route to a 73-57 win in the season opener last Friday. The Commodores followed up that performance with a dazzling three-point shooting display against the Tigers, making 14-of-28 attempts (.500) while posting an 87-65 victory on Sunday.

Mario Moore leads all VU scorers with 17.0 points a game thanks in part to his game-high 19 against TSU. Jason Holwerda, who is averaging 13.5 points a game,  tied a career high with 17 points against the Tigers.  Dawid Przybyszewski is averaging a double-double (11.5 points, 10.0 rebounds). He grabbed a career-high 16 rebounds against Toledo.

Cal State Northridge fell short in its lone contest to date, an 82-72 setback at Oklahoma. The Matadors return all five starters from last year’s team, including the Big West Conference’s top returning scorer in swingman Ian Boylan (14.5 ppg last season).
