Opening Comments:
“I thought this game was dictated by their offensive rebounding and our turnovers. We had a ton of turnovers. They played zone for virtually 40 minutes… We didn’t shoot well, which can be attributed to us not being in a flow offensively. We threw it off guys’ hands and got it tipped. We played well enough defensively to win… We got quite a few offensive rebounds, but we didn’t have anyone other than Rod [Odom] play at the top of their game. Our margin for error is not enough for our point guards to have more combined turnovers than points.”
On Vanderbilt Center Damian Jones’ Struggles in First Half:
“He was 2-9 at halftime. He did have 10 rebounds… Offensively, he could have had a bigger night.”
On the Game’s Flow:
“We blocked nine shots, which is a ton. They deflected balls early and made a couple of baskets. We didn’t do well offensively.”
On Defending Ole Miss Guard Marshall Henderson:
“Dai-Jon [Parker] did a terrific job on him. Our players were alert and aware on him. [His shots at the end of the game] were daggers. Dai-Jon did about as good of a job as you can do on him and he still made the two biggest shots of the night.”

James [Siakam] and Damian [Jones] rebounded hard. Luke and I have got to be better. And Shelby [Moats]. We’ve all got to be better at helping those guys on the boards.”
On if depth effects late game rebounding:
“No. We’re in good shape. Coach prepares us for it. It’s got nothing to do with fatigue. We’ve just got to want it more.”
On missed opportunities down the stretch:
“I guess a couple things didn’t go our way. We missed some free throws and some easy conversions in fast break offense, but that was just one of many things that hurt us down the stretch.”

“Double teams. They came out strong so that just made it difficult.”
On whether guys were worried about Mississippi’s SEC leading 7.1 blocks per game:
“No, I wasn’t worried.”

On Marshall Henderson’s game tonight:
“Well it’s the Marshall Henderson phenomenon. I’ve never seen a guy go 4 for 15 and be the lead question, but he is. As his coach the thing I’m happy about is that he only turned the ball over once, he had 3 assists, he shared the ball better, and he had 6 big rebounds. There was a moment when they were fighting back, it was a one possession game. We couldn’t get stops in the second half, as I looked at the stat sheet in the second half and they were shooting 58%. As I look at the final they shot 48%, so obviously we were able to get some stops at the down the stretch. When it was that one possession mode there were a couple loose balls and AJ was in there. He was fantastic, he had 8 rebounds, keeping the ball alive, getting it to Marshall. People think there’s no way he’s (Marshall) going to shoot that, but that’s what he does. He went and knocked down one and came back and hit another, and I think that’s what ultimately took the wind out of their sails.”
On back-to-back road games:
“Well we just look at it one game at a time, but it’s good for us. It’s never easy on the road, and for us to win 2 of our first 3 shows that this team is maturing. Every game is close for us, and every game is hard, and I think our guys are starting to do a better job of that.”
On the ability to put Vanderbilt away at the end:
“Our guys have been there. 12 of our 17 games coming into tonight were one possession games with 90 seconds to play. We know where want to go with the ball at the end. When you hold a Vanderbilt team to 52 points in this building, I think we did a pretty good job of executing the scouting report, staying attached to their shooters. 9 turnovers was huge for us. We don’t lose many when we stay in single digits, and we had 14 steals defensively.”
On the scoring spread tonight:
“Jarvis was very consistent, I thought he made some hard plays, I thought Anthony Perez made some hard drives. I think we were probably 32-33 minutes into the game before we got to the foul line. We had to come to the realization that if we were going to win the game we were going to have to finish through contact.”

“We got out there and we knew we had to get it done. Me and Marshall have a connection out there and we knew what we had to do to get it done.
