Vanderbilt Men’s Soccer Hosts Denver and Alabama A&M This Weekend

Nashville, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team opens a three-match homestand this weekend with a pair of games against Denver and Alabama A&M at the VU Soccer Complex.

Vanderbilt will face Denver tomorrow night at 7 p.m. The Pioneers are 3-2-1 on the year after defeating UC Davis on Sept. 18. DU has eight starters back from last season’s 12-5-1 squad including senior Thomas Flynn who leads the team with three goals on the year. Friday’s matchup will be the first ever men’s soccer meeting between the two schools.

VU will face Alabama A&M on Sunday at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs are 2-8-0 on the year and have lost six matches in a row heading into a home tilt against Evansville tomorrow night. AAMU holds a 19-1 series advantage over Vanderbilt including a 3-0 win the last time out in the 2002 season.

The Commodores are 4-3 on the year and are coming off a 4-3 win at No. 25 Memphis last weekend. Sophomore Joe Germanese was named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week and to the Top Drawer Soccer.com National Team of the Week for his two-goal, two assist performance against the Tigers.
