Vanderbilt Men’s Soccer Falls To No. 10 California, 3-0

Berkeley, Calif. –No. 10 nationally ranked California remained undefeated with a 3-0 win over Vanderbilt Friday afternoon in the first game of the adidas/Cal Legacy Classic.

Cal improved to 3-0 on the year, while the Commodores suffered their first loss of the season to drop to 2-1.

The teams battled to a scoreless draw after one half of play, before the Golden Bears got on the board on a Tyson Wahl penalty kick two minutes into the second stanza.

Pieter Berger scored on a Wahl assist at the 58 minute mark to make it 2-0 and Javier Hill scored in the 78th minute to close out the scoring.

Cal outshot VU 12-9, with the Commodores holding a 5-2 shot advantage at halftime.

Vanderbilt will finish out the two-game tournament against Stanford on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
