Vanderbilt Men’s Soccer Drops MVC Opener at Bradley, 4-0
Peoria, Ill. – The Vanderbilt men’s soccer team gave up three second half goals in a 4-0 loss at Bradley in the Missouri Valley Conference opener for both teams. The Commodores are 3-4-3 overall, 0-1-0 in MVC play, while Bradley is 6-5-0, 1-0-0 in league action. Bradley scored at the 38:52 mark when Ken Hickman took a pass from Dexter Johnson and Nick Bowden to the right post. Bradley scored its second goal of the game at the 45:46 mark when Chris Brown scored from six yards out. The Braves then scored two goals within 1:09 when Luke Kreamalmeyer scored on a rebound (62:13) and Kevin Erickson scored on a free kick from 24-yards out (63:32). Bradley outshot Vanderbilt 20-12. Of the Commodores 12 shots, four were on goal, led by senior Jimmy Stone who numbered four shots, one on goal. Freshmen Ryan McGrath and Josh Medcalf each totaled two shots. Bradley numbered 20 shots, including 12 on goal. Junior goalkeeper Jamie Burns played 68:42 giving up the four goals and numbering four saves. Freshmen goalkeeper came in with just over 21 minutes remaining and did not face a shot on goal. Bradley’s goalkeeper, Chris Dunsheath, played the entire game and totaled four saves. The Commodores continue their MVC road swing with a 2:30 pm matchup with Eastern Illinois Sunday (Oct. 5). |
