Vanderbilt Meets Cincinnati Saturday

12/6/2005

Vanderbilt returns to Memorial Gymnasium Saturday to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats at 5 p.m. The game will be televised by Fox Sports Net.

The Commodores (5-0) are coming off a thrilling 76-75 last-second win over Oregon on Nov. 30. Mario Moore’s 30-footer at the buzzer gave the Commodores the dramatic win.

Junior Derrick Byars was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week for his team-high 20 points against Oregon. Byars helped Vanderbilt rally from an 11-point deficit in the second half, scoring 13 of his 20 points after intermission. Byars hit 7-of-8 from the field and handed out seven assists without a turnover.

Cincinnati (3-2) will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak when it visits Nashville. The Bearcats lost a pair of home games last week to Dayton (75-66) and No. 9 Memphis (91-81).

Cincinnati won last year’s meeting with Vanderbilt, 88-72, in the Queen City.

Vanderbilt has won 28 consecutive non-conference home games.
