Game Notes
– With the win, Head Coach Kevin Stallings has 279 at the helm for the Commodores, surpassing legendary coach Roy Skinner as Vanderbilt’s all-time winningest coach.
– Vanderbilt improves to 23-4 all-time against Lipscomb, including 15-1 when playing at Memorial Gym.
– The Commodores have their first 2-0 start since the 2010-2011 season.
– Attendance was 8416, surpassing the season-opener from earlier this week.
– Rod Odom, Eric McClellan, Dai-Jon Parker, James Siakam and Josh Henderson got the start. The group has started both games for the `Dores so far this season.
Team Notes
– Vanderbilt scored at least 80 points in the second consecutive game this season, after hitting the mark only once in 2012-13.
– The `Dores hadn’t scored at least 80 in back-to-back games since December 19 and 21 of 2011-12 against Longwood (99) and Lafayette (89).
– Vandy used a 15-4 run, between 5:35 and 1:32 in the second half to pull away and ice the game.
– The Commodores were 6-of-8 from the free throw line with less than two minutes to play.
– Vanderbilt attempted at least 30 free-throws (37) for the first time since they got to the line 31 times against Auburn on March 3 of last season.
– The `Dores scored 47 second half points on 68.2 percent (15-of-22) shooting.
– Vanderbilt led 33-30 at the half.
Player Notes
– James Siakam finished the game with career-highs in nearly every category and picked up the first double-double by a Vanderbilt player since Kevin Bright had 11 points and 10 rebounds against Xavier on December 6, last season.
– Siakam finished with career highs in points (18), rebounds (13), field goals made (7), field goals attempted (9), free throws made (4), assists (3) and minutes (31).
– Kyle Fuller finished with 16 points on 2-of-5 from the floor and 11-of-14 from the free throw line. The senior also had four rebounds and six assists.
– Rod Odom matched his career-high with a team-high 20 points. The senior hit a career high, eight field goals and was 4-of-7 from beyond the arc.
– Eric McClellan picked up his second-straight double-digit scoring effort with 13 points, six of which coming at the line.
– Freshman Luke Kornet made his collegiate debut early in the first half, finishing the game with two points and three boards.
