Vanderbilt Golfers in Third at Tar Heel

10/8/2005

CHAPEL Hill, N.C. – One-under par rounds by Chris Brady and Liebelei Lawrence Saturday kept Vanderbilt in third place after two rounds of the Lady Tar Heel Invitational.  The Commodores shot 291, nine strokes better than they did during Friday’s rain-plagued round, and trail Duke by nine strokes and Auburn by five heading into Sunday’s final 18.

Brady is in third place individually at one-under for the 36 holes, seven shots off the pace of Texas A & M’s Ashley Knoll, who blistered the 6,285 yard UNC Finley Golf Course with a seven-under 65.  Lawrence is in a tie for ninth position, plus-four for the tournament.

Other Commodore results from Saturday include Kristen Svicarovich’s 73, Jacqui Concolino’s 76 and Amber Lundskog’s 80.  Svicarovich is also four-over for the tourney and tied for ninth place.

Both Brady and Lawrence were steady Saturday.  Brady birdied No. 2 and No. 11 against 13 pars through her first 15 holes before double-bogeying the par 4 16th.  She turned right around with a birdie on the par 5 17th.  Lawrence had two birdies on the front side and a single bogey on the back for her day.
