Vanderbilt’s women’s golf team finished the 2017 SEC Championship in ninth place after posting a three-round score of 882 (287-302-293) for the tournament. Junior Alexandra Farnsworth was the team’s best finisher for the weekend, carding a total of two-under par, 214 (68-72-74) which was good for a tie for 17th place on the individual leader board.

The Commodores finished with a final round score of 293 and counted a 70 from Abbey Carlson, a 72 from Alison Armstrong, a 74 from Farnsworth, and a 77 from Kate Sborov.

“I’m really proud of the freshmen today,” said Vanderbilt head coach Greg Allen. “They played great. Alison showed a lot of resiliency after that first round and Abbey was great. It was nice to see her make some putts. I also thought today was a good learning opportunity for Farney. She didn’t have her best but in typical Farney fashion, she grinded until the final putt.”

Florida won the team title by 13 shots over Alabama and Georgia, while South Carolina’s Katelyn Dambaugh won medalist honors with a 12-under par, 204 (68-70-66).
