Vanderbilt Announces Bowling Schedule 10/25/2004
Vanderbilt Announces Bowling Schedule Vanderbilt’s new varsity bowling team will compete in seven tournaments this year, according to Head Coach John Williamson. Highlighting the Commodores’ schedule will be the Music City Classic, hosted by Vanderbilt March 19-20 at the Melrose Lanes. Between 10 and 15 teams, including national champion Nebraska and runner-up Central Missouri State, are expected to be in the inaugural field. “We are very pleased with the reception we’ve received from the collegiate bowling community,” Williamson says. “When the word began to spread that we were hosting a tournament it didn’t take long to attract a strong group of teams. Nashville is a very attractive city and teams want to come here.” Vanderbilt’s first competition comes November 19-21 at Mankato State University. The next tournament is the Southern Invitational, in Baton Rouge, La., Jan. 15-16. The Commodores will also compete in tournaments at Central Missouri State, another NCAA power, the Magnolia Extreme Bowling Classic in Natchez, Miss., the Morgan State Invitational in Columbia, Md., and the Holiday Bowl Tournament in Bessemer, Ala. The team will begin its practice sessions October 25 at the Melrose Lanes on Franklin Road. The Commodores’ first roster includes 12 members. 2004-05 Bowling Schedule |
