Sunday Highlights | Queens Bracket ![]()
EULESS, Texas – Vanderbilt assistant coach Josie Earnest is one of eight unbeaten bowlers remaining in the field and Commodore All-American Brittni Hamilton is still alive in the “Contenders Bracket” as the USBC Queens heads into a decisive Monday of play.
Earnest, a former two-time NCAA Player of the Year, is competing in this tournament despite not having had the chance to bowl much with her coaching duties. The Queens is considered one of the sport’s “majors” and on Sunday Josie defeated two super stars, top-seeded Kelly Kulick and Hall of Famer Kim Terrell-Kearney.
Earnest faces several stern tests Monday and is two wins away from making the Top 5 and competing in the finals, televised live Tuesday night (6 p.m. CT) on ESPN2. She defeated Kulick, who won a PBA tournament and is one of the sport’s greatest names, by a 672-646 margin.
Hamilton, a three-time first-team All-American, faces Jacqui Reese in an early Monday contest. Should she win she faces a steady diet of strong competition from outstanding bowlers that have already dropped one match in this event.
The tournament format is the best pin total out of three games.
Bowl.com has outstanding coverage of this tournament and a video that includes an interview with Earnest.
