Sonny Gray signed on the dotted line with the Oakland A’s. The first-round draft pick flew to California yesterday to finalize the deal and was a guest at the A’s game against Tampa Bay. He’ll start his professional career in Double-A Midland in August. Gray told MLB.com that he’s ready to make the jump and compete at the next level.
Dick Vitale released his preseason men’s basketball Top 10 and listed the Commodores at No. 5. Vitale stated, “Kevin Stallings has a lot of veteran talent returning, including center Festus Ezeli, sharpshooter John Jenkins and the athletic Jeffery Taylor.”

Pedro Alvarez is back in the Majors after a stint on the disabled list. Alvarez went 1-for-3 with a run scored in the Pirates’ 3-1 win over Atlanta last night. MLB.com posted a video interview with the former Commodore slugger.
