Women’s Open Results
In their final tune-up before the postseason, the Vanderbilt women finished 28th among a powerful field at the tradition-steeped Wisconsin Invitational on Friday. The field featured 18 teams who are ranked in the latest USTFCCCA poll, along with six teams that are receiving votes.
Continuing a season-long theme, Sara Tsai again led the way for the Commodores, finishing 39th overall with a time of 20:51.20.
Reagan Anderson was the second Vanderbilt finisher, taking 127th overall with a time of 21:44.5. She was followed by Maddie Criscione, who was 159th at 22:02.40. Also in Vanderbilt’s top five were Devon Grisbaum (169th at 22:12.3) and freshman Mailin Struck (179th at 22:27.4).
The list of ranked teams in the field included five of the nation’s Top-10 teams — No. 1 Providence, No. 3 NC State, No. 4 Washington, No. 6 Michigan State, No. 10 Boise State, — along with No. 11 New Mexico, No. 15 BYU, No. 17 Yale, No. 18 Georgetown, No. 19 San Francisco, No. 20 Syracuse, No. 21 Baylor, No. 23 Utah, No. 24 SMU, T-26. Iowa State, T-26. Penn, No. 28 Notre Dame and No. 29 Harvard.
In the Women’s Open Race, Carmen Carlos paced the Commodores by finishing 21st at 22:05.20. Ginger Hutton was 39th at 22:27.5, Courtney Kriegshauser was 59th at 23:03.6, Reagan Bustamante was 65th at 23:24.5 and Kendall Derry was 66th at 23:38.1.
The Vanderbilt men were in action on Friday, too, finishing 23rd at the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Recap and results: HERE.
The Vanderbilt women and men now turn their attention to the SEC Championships, which will be held on Oct. 28 in Fayetteville, Ark.
