NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Vanderbilt women’s basketball team climbed into the top five in both major college women’s basketball polls for the first time since the 2001-02 season this week, as the Commodores moved to No. 5 in the Associated Press top 25 and the USA Today /WBCA coaches poll.
It is the highest ranking for the Commodores in either poll since Vanderbilt ended the 2001-02 season ranked No 4 in the AP poll and No. 5 in the USA Today/WBCA coaches poll.
The Dores are off to a 17-0 start, which matches the 1992-93 Final Four team for the best start in program history. The 17-straight wins to open the 2025-26 campaign also ties the longest winning streak at any point in a season in school history. Vanderbilt is off to a 4-0 start in SEC play for the first time since the 2008-09 season.
The No. 5-ranked Commodores return to action on Thursday at Mississippi State. Tipoff against the Bulldogs is set for 5:30 p.m. CT and airs live on SEC Network+.
