BATON ROUGE, La. — KJ Johnson recorded 35 points and 10 rebounds to lead LSU to an 84-77 win over Vanderbilt men’s basketball Wednesday at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
Williams was 13 of 25 from the field—including making 4 of 6 from 3-point range—for the Tigers (13-15, 2-13 SEC), and Adam Miller scored 18 after making 9 of 10 attempts at the free-throw line. LSU trailed by one with more than 12 minutes left in the game, but went ahead 56-50 before the midway point of the second half and didn’t trail the rest of the way.
Liam Robbins just missed a triple-double for the Commodores (15-13, 8-7 SEC) after posting 23 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks, all team-high totals. He is now tied for the most blocked shots recorded in an NCAA Division I game this season.
Tyrin Lawrence added 19 points for Vandy, and Trey Thomas and Colin Smith scored 11 apiece. Jordan Wright grabbed eight rebounds and Ezra Manjon was credited with seven assists.
The Commodores take on Florida Saturday at 5 p.m. at Memorial Gymnasium.
