WEST POINT, Miss. — Vanderbilt women’s golf wrapped up the opening round of The Ally on Monday at 4-over par. The Commodores sit in fifth place as a team at Old Waverly, four strokes behind Ole Miss. Arkansas and Florida are tied for first place at 8-under par.
“I thought we got off to a good start, but we sure weren’t very sharp on the back nine,” said head coach Greg Allen.
Ava Merrill and Lynn Lim, each tied for 18th individually, carded even-par rounds. Lim holed three birdies while Merrill added two. The rest of the Commodore lineup—Angelina Tolentino, Elizabeth Rudisill, and Sara Im—each notched 2-over-par 74s to begin the tournament. They are all tied for 31st individually.
Competing as an individual, Kathryn Ha leads the Commodores in tenth place. The freshman went 1-under par with four birdies to her name. Tillie Claggett, the other Vanderbilt individual for the tournament, shot a 77.
“We’ve dug ourselves a bit of a hole, so we will need to get back to playing to the standard we’ve set this fall,” said head coach Greg Allen.
Vanderbilt will tee off the second round at 9:15 a.m. with Ole Miss and Xavier. Live scoring for the event can be found on Scoreboard.
