NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Three Vanderbilt women’s golfers are set to tee off in holiday tournaments to close the calendar year. Meghan Meserole will compete in the Cactus Collegiate Challenge (Dec. 28-30) while Tillie Claggett and Lynn Lim are both set to play in the Patriot All-America Invitational (Dec. 29-31).
The Patriot All-America Invitational is a 54-hole competition hosted at the Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The tournament features PING All-Americans from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, the NAIA, NJCAA and AJGA ranks as well as international team members, and special invitees. The event centers on bringing the best players in college golf together to honor military veterans in conjunction with the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Each golfer receives and carries a commemorative PING golf bag that bears the name, rank and branch of a fallen or wounded hero. Additionally, all of the golfers have the opportunity to visit Luke Air Force Base, the training center for our nation’s F-16 and F-35 fighter pilots. The players carry the bag and honor that soldier throughout the week. Upon conclusion, the bags are shipped back to the player’s school where they are auctioned off with the proceeds benefiting the Folds of Honor charity.
Claggett will tee off on the back nine at 9:40 a.m. AZT on Friday while Lim begins her tournament on the front nine at 11:10 a.m.
Just down the road, Meserole will tee off in the Cactus Collegiate Challenge at the Riverview Golf Club in Sun City, Ariz. The 54-hole event is hosted by the Cactus Tour and carries World Amateur Golf Rankings points. Meserole will begin her tournament play at 9:10 a.m. AZT on Thursday.
