Tennessee Head Coach Pat Summitt Quotes

Tennessee Head Coach Pat Summitt
Opening Statement “That was about the worst defense I’ve had to watch for 20 minutes of basketball in the first half tonight. We gave up too many open three’s. Vanderbilt did a great job with spacing and moving the ball. Obviously at halftime the coaching staff was not happy at all, and I’m sure the team wasn’t too pleased either. We picked up our defense in the second half. Nicky [Anosike] stepped up and helped us out. Our defense got our offense started.”
On Reaching 900: “It’s just sounded like a whole lot of games and that didn’t count the losses. I remember driving home from a tournament at the Mississippi College for Women in order to be in class the next day. Yours truly drove the van. My life has been blessed in so many ways. When I think of all the faces that played for me, they were great people. They competed and represented the university with pride and they always come back. Once a Lady Vol, always a Lady Vol. Our administration — I can’t say enough about what they have done. They’ve allowed us to recruit nationally and play a national schedule. We have the support at the top here. We have no reason not to be successful. It’s about people.”
On the Large UT Contingent at the Game: “I felt earlier that there would be a lot of UT fans here tonight. We have lots of UT fans in the state, but we have lots of alumni here in Nashville. They came here and came out. That’s special to me. When we were on defense, I kept hearing chants of “D-Fense”. It felt a lot like a home game for us.”
