October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Vanderbilt’s teams will do their part to help raise awareness by adding pink to their uniform attire at upcoming competitions.

Vanderbilt’s football, soccer, swimming and women’s tennis teams will wear pink this weekend, while women’s cross country will don pink at its next event on October 17.

The football team will support the initiative by wearing pink arm bands for its game Saturday against Charleston Southern. The game kicks off at 6:30 p.m. at Vanderbilt Stadium.

On Friday, Vanderbilt’s soccer team will wear pink accessories, including wristbands and shoelaces to show its support during the Commodores’ match with Texas A&M at 6 p.m.

The swimming team will wear pink caps Friday and Saturday when it opens its home schedule by facing Campbell, San Diego State and UALR at Centennial Sportsplex.

Vanderbilt’s women’s tennis team will wear pink tops on Saturday at the June Stewart Invitational. The three-day tournament will be played at the Currey Tennis Center beginning Friday.

On October 17, Vanderbilt’s cross country team will wear pink uniform tops at the Wisconsin adidas Invitational.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month is held annually in October to increase awareness of the disease, and the steps needed to detect the disease in its early stages.
