Tanner Tabbed AP Honorable Mention All-American

Sophomore garners national recognition for historic season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tyler Tanner was named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press on Tuesday, becoming the first Vanderbilt men’s basketball student-athlete to earn All-America recognition since Scotty Pippen Jr. in 2021.

Tanner has led the Commodores to a 26-8 mark this season, tying the program record for most victories heading into the NCAA Tournament. The sophomore is averaging a team-leading 19.1 points, 5.1 assists and 2.4 assists per game. He is the only player in the country to average better than 19/5/2 on the year.

Tanner has already set the single season school record with 81 steals this season and is just five assists away from matching Atiba Prater’s assists record. His 649 points rank seventh in Vanderbilt’s single season records and are the most ever scored by a Commodore sophomore.

Tanner is the 14th Commodore to earn All-America honors and his selection the 45th for a Vanderbilt player all-time.
