Tanner Caps Season with Player of the Week Honor

Sophomore averaged 29.5 points in final week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt sophomore Tyler Tanner was named SEC co-Player of the Week after averaging 29.5 points over two games in the final week of the regular season.

Tanner produced two magnificent performances in leading the Commodores to victories at Ole Miss and Tennessee to close the year. He scored 34 points with seven assists, five rebounds and five steals in the overtime win at Ole Miss. He became only the second SEC player to go for 30/5/5/5 or better in a game in the past 30 years, joining LSU’s Ben Simmons. Tanner is the only to hit the marks in an SEC game.

In the finale at Tennessee, Tanner scored a game-high 25 points with three assists and two steals to lead the Dores to their first win in Knoxville since 2017. Tanner finished 7-of-9 from the field including a perfect 2-for-2 beyond the arc.

Tanner’s big week helped the Dores earn the No. 4 seed and a double-bye in the SEC Tournament. Vandy and Tanner will open their tournament run on Friday at Bridgestone Arena.
