Senior Lauren Stratton fired a one-under par, 71, on Sunday, to finish the Liz Murphey Fall Preview with a final total of 216 (73-72-71), which placed her in a tie for fifth position on the individual leaderboard. As a team, the Commodores finished in 16th place with a team score of 905 (297-305-303).
Stratton, a first-team All-American in 2012, notched her second top five finish in three tournaments for the Commodores on Sunday. The senior from Spring Hill, Tenn., finished in a tie for third at the season-opening Cougar Classic in Charleston, S.C. in early September.
Sophomore Kendall Martindale was next for the Commodores, finishing in a tie for 26th with a score of 222 (74-74-74). Freshman Jenny Hahn carded a 231 (73-78-80, T-67), junior Rene Sobolewski a 240 (77-84-79, T-85), and Irina Gabasa with a 242 (82-81-79).
North Carolina stormed to the team title with a final round 290 to win the tournament by four strokes over Alabama. Mary Michael Maggio of Texas A&M won medalist honors with a final total of 213 (72-74-67).
