Cross country head coach Steve Keith may need to find more room in his office for the awards he and his team have earned this year.
Keith was named the Division I Women’s South Regional Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today after his team placed second overall at the regional meet this past weekend. The runner-up finish earned the team their first-ever ticket to the NCAA Championships.
The USTFCCCA honor comes just two weeks after the SEC named Keith the conference’s Coach of the Year for the women’s side, as the team earned their first SEC title.
Coaches are voted on by their peers in their division for the award. Vanderbilt shares a regional with top-ranked Florida State, who placed first at the Regionals.
The team heads to Terre Haute, Ind. for the Nationals on Monday.
