Sydney Griffin joined Vanderbilt Athletics as Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Priorities in April 2026, where she oversees the internal operations of the National Commodore Club.
Prior to Vanderbilt, Griffin served as Associate Athletics Director of Development Operations for the Alexander-Tharpe Fund at Georgia Tech, managing foundation operations and supporting strategic fundraising initiatives. She previously spent three years at Army as Associate Athletics Director of External Strategy and Operations, where she aligned resources across external units, oversaw marketing and video operations, served on the athletic director’s executive team, and acted as a sport administrator for cross country/track and field and men’s basketball. She also represented the Patriot League on the NCAA Division I Cross Country/Track and Field Committee.
Earlier in her career, Griffin was Chief of Staff to the Director of Athletics at Austin Peay, where she helped lead the department through the COVID-19 pandemic and played a significant role in multiple head coaching searches. She began her career as an Athletics Administration Fellow at Notre Dame, following her participation in the Duke Athletics Open Door Initiative internship program.
A native of Marietta, Georgia, Griffin earned a master’s degree in sport management from the University of East London and brings international experience from competing as a semi-professional track and field athlete. A 2016 graduate of Elon, she was a six-time individual conference medalist, two-time NCAA Regional qualifier, named the Most Outstanding Performer at the 2016 CAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships and the university’s Outstanding Athlete of the Year honors. She also served as team captain and led her program to consecutive CAA team championships, and was inducted into the Elon Sports Hall of Fame in 2025.
