Brady Welsh
Director • Men's Basketball Performance
Brady Welsh was tabbed as the director of men’s basketball performance at Vanderbilt in June 2025.
Welsh will lead all aspects of strength and conditioning for the Commodores. He comes to Nashville with extensive experience in college basketball at Kentucky, Purdue, Illinois and Temple.
Welsh spent the past year training Houston Rockets rookie and former Kentucky standout and 2023-24 National Freshman of the Year Reed Sheppard. Welsh previously served as Kentucky’s director of basketball strength and conditioning from 2022-24.
Prior to his time at Kentucky, Welsh served in the same role with Purdue in 2021-22. Welsh oversaw all aspects of the performance program for coach Matt Painter’s Boilermakers, including the creation of a new performance center featuring a nutrition center and sports science elements.
Welsh also spent two seasons at Temple as the director of basketball sports performance. Prior to his two seasons with the Owls, Welsh worked as a strength and conditioning coach for the basketball programs at IMG Academy. He began his career as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Illinois.
Welsh has trained a number of NBA players, including former Vanderbilt star Luke Kornet, Oscar Tshiebwe, Zach Edey, Anfernee Simmons, Jaden Ivey, Meyers Leonard, Terrance Shannon, Josh Green, Rob Dillingham and Jarrett Allen among the list.
Welsh earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Eastern Illinois in 2015, where he also played golf for the Panthers. He has held his NSCA certification since 2015.
