Andy Farrell
Director of Basketball Operations
Andy Farrell joined the Vanderbilt men’s basketball program as the director of basketball operations in August 2024.
Farrell comes to Nashville after one season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Siena. With the Saints, Farrell served as the NIL contact for the men’s basketball program in addition to his daily coaching and recruiting duties.
Prior to Siena, Farrell spent six seasons on Anthony Grant’s staff at Dayton. Farrell served as the Flyers’ director of scouting and program development his first two seasons before transitioning into the role of special assistant to the head coach and recruiting coordinator in his final four years.
Farrell was part of the Flyers’ 29-2 season in 2019-20 which saw Dayton climb as high as No. 3 in the AP poll. He helped recruit and coach four NBA Draft picks and two All-Americans at Dayton. He was also instrumental in the marketing and promotion of Obi Toppin’s player of the year campaign along with organizing public appearances, Dayton Basketball Camps and coordinating social media and marketing campaigns for the program.
Prior to Dayton, Farrell spent three seasons (2014-17) as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Southwest Mississippi Community College. He also served one season as an assistant and recruiting coordinator at Longwood (2013-14) and two seasons as the director of operations and assistant recruiting coordinator at DePaul (2011-13).
Farrell got his start in college basketball at VCU as a graduate assistant in 2007-08 and then served as a video coordinator at Clemson and DePaul from 2008-11.
A native of Dayton, Ohio, Farrell earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Dayton in 2007. He then earned a master’s in sport leadership/coaching from VCU in 2009.
