2005 Cross Country: One of team[apos]s most consistent runners, finishing among top seven in all five competitions… Was team[apos]s fifth best finisher at Pre-Nationals in Terra Haute, Ind., running 6K PR of 22:38… Lowered 6K best to 21:51.25 with sixth place team finish at SEC Championships… Finished 10th overall at Commodore Classic, running 19:28.02 for 5K… Season best at 5K was 18:35 at Notre Dame Invitational, good for 107th overall and fifth on team… Did not compete in opening Belmont Invitational.

2004 Cross Country: Ran 24th overall in Belmont Invitational with 15:24.27 effort… Sixth best Commodore runner at Belmont meet.

2003 Cross Country: Opened year strong with 19th overall finish in Belmont Invitational (11:27), then ran 11th overall with 19:44 effort at Commodore Classic… Hip injury reduced effectiveness in second part of campaign.

In High School: 3200-meter state champion and 1,600-meter runnerup as senior… Set school marks at 800, 1600 and 3200… Named Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year at school… Two-time track captain… cross country MVP as senior after fourth place finish at state… Received conference[apos]s Cross Country Runner of the Year Award… Also competed in volleyball, basketball and swimming.

Personal: Shannon Leigh Capps… Daughter of Lee and Pat Capps… Has one brother… Was valedictorian of senior class and President of National Honor Society chapter… Plans to major in chemical engineering.
