2024-25 | JUNIOR (North Carolina)

• Carolina’s Defensive Player of the Year
• Averaged 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds and shot 59.4% from the floor
• Second on the team in blocks (30) and third in rebounding • Made 30 of his last 44 from the floor (68.2%)
• Tar Heels went 5-0 when he scored in double figures (American, Campbell, at NC State, Boston College and at Florida State)
• Eight points and eight rebounds (six of the points and seven of the rebounds came in the second half) in the NCAA first round vs. Ole Miss
• Tied career highs with seven FGs (7 for 10), 18 points and three assists vs. Boston College
• Made go-ahead and game-winning dunk with 25 seconds to play, blocked last-second shot to preserve 63-61 win, career-high 12 rebounds and first career double-double (11/12) in win at NC State
• Also had career-best six offensive rebounds vs. the Wolfpack, the most by a Tar Heel this season
• Eight points, six boards and a career-high five blocks in the 74-73 win at Notre Dame

2023-24 | SOPHOMORE (North Carolina) 

• Averaged 3.9 points and 2.6 rebounds
• Made 54 of 77 shots from the floor (70.1%), including 12 of 15 in the last eight games
• Made 8 of 15 from three-point range
• Scored in double figures four times this season (each time in 16 or fewer minutes) and five times as a Tar Heel.
• Made all three of his FG attempts and scored six points in six minutes in the ACC semifinal win over Pittsburgh
• Six rebounds and two blocks vs. Florida State in the ACC quarterfinal
• Made both of his three-point attempts and totaled 10 points against Notre Dame
• Made 4 of 5 from the floor, scored 11 points and had six rebounds, two assists and two steals in 12 minutes vs. Syracuse
• Then Career highs in scoring (17) and rebounding (7) in a season-long 16 minutes against Charleston Southern

2022-23 | FRESHMAN (North Carolina)

• Averaged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 20 games
• Grabbed three rebounds in the win over Virginia
• Two field goals (first multi-FG game in seven games) vs. Clemson
• Made all four of his free throws at Louisville and was a plus 18 in 19 minutes vs. the Cards
• Breakout game at Virginia when he scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds in 27 minutes
• Made his collegiate debut and scored his first two points on 12/10 vs. Georgia Tech

HIGH SCOOL/PREP 

• Played for coaches Chris Buggs and Sean Smith at West Side Leadership Academy in Gary, Ind.
• Did not play his senior season due to a knee injury
• 2022 Indiana All-Star
• First-team all-state and all-conference as a junior when he averaged 12.5 points, seven rebounds, three assists and three blocks
• Led Gary West Side to the state semifinals

• Son of Jada Sterling and Jimmy Washington Sr.
• Has seven-foot, four-inch wingspan
• Ranked No. 2 academically in his senior class and was a member of the Indiana Academic All-State team
• Member of the National Honor Society
• Played AAU for Meanstreets
• Played the cello and piano from second to seventh grade
• His older brother, Jimmie, played basketball at IU-Northwest
