Southeastern Conference Recognizes 40 Commodores On Freshmen Academic Honor Roll

Forty Commodore student-athletes were recognized on 2005 Southeastern Conference Freshmen Academic Honor Roll, league commissioner Mike Slive announced Thursday.

The women’s lacrosse team topped the list with seven selections, followed by the women’s cross country team with five honorees. Women’s golf, women’s tennis, women’s soccer and men’s cross country each notched four accolades.

Multiple student-athletes from the baseball, football and track & field squads also were chosen, as were members of the bowling, women’s basketball, men’s soccer, men’s golf and men’s tennis team.

A total of 469 freshmen student-athletes were named to the 2005 SEC Freshmen Academic Honor Roll from the league’s 12 member schools. The honor roll is based on grades from the 2004-05 academic calendar.
