NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Following a successful home meet at Percy Warner Park, Vanderbilt men’s and women’s cross country teams hit the road again to compete at the Joe Piane Invitational hosted by the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, on Friday.
The first women’s 5-kilometer race gets things started at 9:30 a.m. CT followed by the open race at 11 a.m. and the men’s 8k race at 1:15 p.m.
In the Women’s Blue Race, Caroline Eck, Cameron Fawcett, Grace Jensen, Ella Lambert, Gillian Mortimer, Lainey Phelps, Haley Walker and McKenzie Yanek will represent the black and gold. Joslin Blair, Jenna Holland, Jacque Pinon and Julia Rosenberg will compete in the women’s open race.
In the men’s gold race, Jonah Bird, Matthew Estopinal, Zach Hodges, Nick Laning, Philip Metcalf, Andy Niser and Caleb Van Geffen will toe the starting line for the Commodores.
Last week at the Commodore Classic, fifth-year senior McKenzie Yanek and senior Matthew Estopinal each finished second as the Vanderbilt women finished second and the men placed fifth at Percy Warner Park. A full recap is here.
Following the meet, Vanderbilt will have just one more tune-up—the Blazer Classic on Saturday, Oct. 16—before the SEC Championships on Friday, Oct. 29 in Columbia, Missouri.
