Soerensen Signs at Vanderbilt

Mia Soerensen is a 6-4 opposite transferring from UTSA

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Vanderbilt volleyball head coach Anders Nelson announced the signing of graduate transfer Mia Soerensen Tuesday.

“Mia is an elite student who finished her degree in just three years and now begins her master’s journey at Vanderbilt with her eyes on med school,” Nelson said. “On the court, she’s an elite blocker. She’s also a lefty with a high contact that can score in the SEC. She’s a perfect fit for what we’re building — athletically, academically and culturally.”

Soerensen is a 6-foot-4 opposite from Meadville, Pennsylvania, who joins the Commodores after playing two seasons at UTSA. She was named to the All-American Athletic Conference second team both seasons.

In 2024, she was a preseason All-AAC selection and was named a weekly conference honorable mention on two occasions. That season, Soerensen led the Roadrunners with 299 kills, hitting .242, and 109 blocks. She also led the team in terminations in 2023, compiling 337 on the season for an average of 3.18 per set and a .249 hitting percentage.

Soerensen spent her freshman season at Kent State where she earned a spot on the MAC All-Freshman Team.

The Commodores kick off the reinstated volleyball program’s first season since 1979-80 on Aug. 23 at the AVCA First Serve Showcase when they play Kansas at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.
