NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Brandt Snedeker always tries to check one item off his to-do list when he returns to his hometown of Nashville.

“I don’t feel like I’m home unless I see some type of Vanderbilt athletic event,” Snedeker said.

Snedeker, a longtime professional golfer on the PGA Tour and former Vanderbilt All-American, will continue his tradition this weekend on West End. The 2003 Vanderbilt graduate plans to attend Sunday’s Commodore baseball game against Missouri at Hawkins Field. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. CT.

Snedeker is the most decorated Vanderbilt golfer in program history, earning Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and First-Team All-America honors during his senior season in 2003. He has played on the PGA Tour since 2004, most recently finishing tied for 27th at the 2017 Masters.

On Sunday, Snedeker plans to bring along a special guest when he ventures to Hawkins Field: the Ryder Cup, which has spent the past week with Snedeker in Nashville. On Tuesday, Snedeker showed off the championship hardware during the Nashville Predators’ NHL playoff game against the St. Louis Blues at Bridgestone Arena.

Snedeker helped the United States to a Ryder Cup victory in 2016, its first since 2008.

“I’ve taken more pictures in the last four days than I have in my whole life,” said Snedeker, who was inducted into the Vanderbilt Athletics Hall of Fame in 2009. “It’s been fun to kind of show it off for a bit.”

With or without a trophy in hand, the Vanderbilt alum said he always covets a chance to return to West End.

“It’s always a special experience to come back to campus,” Snedeker said. “It’s kind of home for me. It gives me comfort knowing I’m back where I had my playing days.”

Vanderbilt and Missouri will close out their series on Sunday at 1 p.m. at Hawkins Field.
