To be recognized, programs must receive multi-year APR scores in the top 10 percent of all schools in their respective sports. Vanderbilt and Auburn had the most teams honored in the SEC.

The six teams recognized were:

Men’s Cross Country
Football
Men’s Golf
Bowling
Women’s Golf
Lacrosse

The NCAA has provided Public Recognition Awards each of the last 11 years and during that time, Vanderbilt’s men’s cross country program has been honored each year. The team is one of just 110 from all sports to be recognized every year the award has existed.

Vanderbilt’s football program was the only one in the league to be honored. It was the second straight year the team was the only one awarded in the league.

The most recent APRs are multi-year rates based on scores from the 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years.

In total 1,071 teams from across the country were recognized, including 944 teams with perfect APR scores. APR scores for all Division I teams will be released on April 20.

The APR annually measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or quarter and provides a clear picture of the academic performance for each team in each sport.

Teams must meet a certain academic threshold to qualify for postseason competition. Teams can face penalties for continued low academic performance.
