Six Commodores Earn All-Academic Honors

Dalesandro, Leyen, Kiefer, Rigney, Potechin and Wahner honored for work in the classroom

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Six Vanderbilt student-athletes were named to the 2019-20 Southland Bowling League All-Academic team, the league announced Wednesday.

Sophomore Angelique Dalesandro, freshman Amelia Kiefer, senior Bryanna Leyen, junior Lauren Potechin, senior Emily Rigney and senior Adel Wahner were all recognized for their exemplary work in the classroom and on the lanes. Each made the squad based upon grade-point averages of 3.0 or higher the semester.

Wahner, a second-team All-American, achieved a 3.83 GPA in her major areas of medicine, health and society and psychology. Leyen had a sparkling 3.71 in elementary education and human and organizational development while Rigney earned a 3.45 in sociology and economics. All three have been fixtures on Vanderbilt’s dean’s list during their careers.

Potechin carried a 3.72 GPA in mechanical engineering and mathematics and Dalesandro had a 3.07 in human and organizational development.

Kiefer attained a 3.49 during her first year at Vanderbilt.
