FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s opening-round performance at the 2021 Mason Rudolph positioned them in second place Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club.
Vandy sits only six strokes back at 282 of leader Oregon (-12) at 276.
“We got off to a hot start today and stayed pretty steady all day,” said head coach Greg Allen. “The girls really looked comfortable and in control of their game.”
Auston Kim paced the Dores with her 7-under-par 65 effort and is first overall. Separating herself by one stroke ahead of Washington’s Camille Boyd, Kim concluded the day at 6-under-par.
“Auston looked amazing and made golf look easy today,” Allen said.
Virginie Ding rounded out the top-20, finishing 1-under-par and tied for 13th.
Ariel Yu (E) and Jayna Choi (E) are both tied for 22nd. Louise Yu (+2) is tied for 39th, Tess Davenport (+4) is tied for 50th and Natasha Kiel is tied for 60th. Davenport and Choi are competing as individuals.
Vanderbilt made 16 birdies with Kim finding an eagle during the day.
“We know there’s a lot of golf left to be played and we will continue to play our game.”
