SEC MBB Preseason Awards Announced

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Southeastern Conference unveiled its fourth annual men’s basketball coaches preseason All-SEC first and second teams on Wednesday. The Commodores host their first and only exhibition match on Monday, November 6, against Tusculum at 8 p.m., and begin their regular season with a home game against Austin Peay Saturday, November 10, at 7 p.m.

Vanderbilt’s Shan Foster was named to the first team by a unanimous selection of the league’s coaches Wednesday after being named to the first team by the media last week. Foster, who averaged 15.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, was joined on the first team by Richard Hendrix of Alabama, Patrick Beverley of Arkansas, Ramel Bradley of Kentucky, Tasmin Mitchell of LSU, Jamont Gordon and Charles Rhodes of Mississippi State, and Chris Lofton of Tennessee. Hendrix, Mitchell, Gordon, and Lofton joined Foster as unanimous selections.

The coaches preseason All-SEC first and second teams consist of a minimum of eight players on each squad, voted on by the SEC Head Men’s Basketball Coaches. No ties were broken and no predicted order of finish was made.
