SEC Championship Tees Off

Vanderbilt opens postseason play Friday

BELLEAIR, Fla. – Vanderbilt women’s golf opens its postseason run at the SEC Championship on Friday at Pelican Golf Club. The Commodores are slated to tee off from No. 10 at 8:10 a.m. ET in the opening round at the challenging par-70 course.

The SEC Championship features 54 holes of stroke play over three days where the individual champion will be crowned. The top eight teams following stroke play will advance to Monday’s match play for quarterfinal and semifinal rounds before Tuesday’s championship round.

“Competing for an SEC Championship is a big reason we do what we do,” head coach Greg Allen said. “The early morning workouts, the practices that sometimes last until dark; we do this because we want the opportunity to play for that SEC trophy.

“Just like every year, the league is stacked from top to bottom so we need to come out the next three days and play steady golf and make good decisions on some of these holes at Pelican. If we can do that and make it to match play, anything can happen. The girls have been playing well and working hard so I’m excited to see what we can do.”

Junior Ava Merrill will lead the Commodore lineup at Pelican along with veterans Lynn Lim and Sara Im. Sophomore Angelina Tolentino makes her second trip to the SEC Championships while freshman Elizabeth Rudisill will make her debut at Pelican. Fellow freshman Kathryn Ha is in the alternate slot for Vanderbilt.

Lim will open the Commodores’ play at 8:10 a.m. Friday off the 10th tee. Vanderbilt will navigate the opening round alongside Auburn and Arkansas.

Live scoring for the SEC Championship is available on SCOREBOARD. The semifinals of match play will air on SEC Network+ while Tuesday’s championship match will air on SEC Network.
