Runner-Up Finish to End the Fall

Vanderbilt bowling earns its third top 3 finish of the season

HARAHAN, La. — The No. 3-ranked Vanderbilt bowling team earned a runner-up finish at the Colonial Lanes Classic to end the 2025 fall season.

“We played well enough all weekend to win a championship, we just didn’t play well enough in that match,” head coach John Williamson said. “Every event this fall got better and had contributions from a lot of different people each time. We need to rest up and make sure we put in some work, because our spring semester will come very quickly.”

Using a lineup of Haley Lindley, Alyssa Ballard, Natalie Kent, Katelyn Abigania and Dannielle Henderson, the Commodores, who earned the top seed during qualifying, swept No. 2 Nebraska to punch their ticket to the championship match.  Vandy compiled games of 211, 227, 215 and 235 in the win.

Vanderbilt faced Prairie View A&M in a round 2 match that did not have playoff implications. The Dores utilized several different lineups, and freshman Tamia Yeager made her collegiate debut.

Vandy returned to its starting lineup for the championship match vs. No. 6 Arkansas State. In game 1, the Red Wolves earned a 212-163 win. Vandy narrowly fell by one pin in the second game. The score was 199-198, Arkansas State. Despite Vandy’s best efforts, the Red Wolves won games 3 and 4 by respective scores of 236-182 and 256-169 to claim the tournament title.

For their individual efforts on Saturday, Henderson, who placed third, was named to the all-tournament team, and Abigania, who finished sixth, earned a spot on the second team.

Vanderbilt bowling is back in action on Jan. 16 when the team travels to New Castle, Delaware, to compete at Sacred Heart’s Northeast Classic. Fans can follow Vanderbilt bowling on X, Instagram and Facebook at @VandyBowling.
