Rudisill Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Rookie garners weekly honor following T-4 finish

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Vanderbilt women’s golfer Elizabeth Rudisill was named SEC co-Freshman of the Week following the Commodores’ title run at the Mason Rudolph Championship.

Rudisill posted a 4-under 209 for the weekend at Vanderbilt Legends Club, capped by a sparkling 5-under 66 in the final round to help the Dores overcome an 8-stroke deficit entering Sunday. Rudisill’s final round included two eagles, holing out at the par-4 8th and dropping a spectacular approach shot on the par-5 18th.

She also eagled No. 6 on Friday to post a trio on the weekend. Rudisill was the only player in the 90-woman field to post multiple eagles in the championship.

The freshman finished tied for fourth on the individual leaderboard in Vanderbilt’s home tournament. The weekly award is the first for Rudisill in her young collegiate career.

Rudisill and the Commodores return to action Oct. 3 at the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.
