  • Vanderbilt rode four players in double figures and a havoc-generating defense to a 74-69 win over No. 9 Kentucky in the season’s first meeting in Nashville.
  • Vandy used a 13-2 run over the final five minutes of the first half to build a 41-27 edge at the break.
  • In the second half, The Dores again proved clutch down the stretch, outscoring Kentucky 23-11 in the final eight minutes after trailing 58-51.
  • Vanderbilt hit 12 threes in the game and was led by Jason Edwards with 18 points.
  • The Dores forced 17 Cats’ turnovers, including 10 steals.

CAREY ON A HEATER

  • Jaylen Carey is averaging 14.8 points and nine rebounds per game over the past four contests.
  • The sophomore produced a career-high 18 points and a career-best 14 rebounds to lead the Dores past Texas.
  • Carey was 8-of-13 from the field and grabbed nine offensive rebounds which led directly to 11 second-chance points.
  • The career day followed a then season-high 15 points at Florida in the midweek. He also added an assist, block and steal to his ledger against the sixth-ranked Gators.
  • Against top-ranked Auburn, Carey snagged 10 rebounds and added eight points.
  • In Vandy’s visit to No. 5 Tennessee, Carey matched his career-high with 18 points while grabbing seven boards.

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Commodores are now 50-156 all-time against Kentucky. The Cats hold a 95-21 edge in Rupp Arena.
  • Vanderbilt visits Lexington in search of its first regular season sweep of the Cats since 2007. It would be just the seventh time in program history the Dores swept the regular season series.
  • No first-year Vanderbilt head coach has ever swept Kentucky.
