WICHITA, KS—Robyn Renslow’s bid to win the United States Bowling Congress’ national singles championship came to and end Saturday afternoon when she dropped a semi-final match to Nebraska’s Julia Bond.

Renslow lost a 222-179 game that was taped for telecast in May by CBS-TV.In the format it was one quick game to see who would advance to the finals.

“I thought she bowled ok but my hunch is she was a little tight,” said John Williamson, Vanderbilt’s head coach. “She had a couple of tough bowling breaks today and didn’t quite have the same momentum she had on Tuesday when she was lights out over a longer day.”

Bond and Renslow had finished 1-2 in the individual standings at the recent NCAA Bowling Championship, although at that tournament the accent was definitely on the team results.

It had been an odd week for Renslow, who flew to Wichita Monday, competed at this USBC event Tuesday, flew home Wednesday for a final exam on Thursday and then flew back to Wichita Friday for this brief game Saturday.

Bond would lose to Emily Eckhoff in the championship game.
