Vanderbilt junior Morgan Ransom claimed the Chattanooga Classic individual title Tuesday with a final score of two-under par, 214 (71-72-71), the first medalist honor of her collegiate career. Ransom, who was competing as an individual, defeated Jacksonville State’s Melania Bajo Geijo by three strokes at the Council Fire Golf Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Three other Commodores also competed as individuals, with Irina Gabasa finishing third with a 218 total (71-74-73), Kate Sborov 11th (73-76-76=225), and Lauren Johnson 29th (82-78-75=235).
Vanderbilt’s next team competition is the SEC Championship in Birmingham, Ala., April 17-19.
