Ralph Heads to Team USA Trials

Vanderbilt women's basketball head coach Shea Ralph will be an on-court coach at the U18 Team USA trials

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – USA Basketball recently announced that Vanderbilt women’s basketball head coach Shea Ralph will be an on-court coach at the Women’s U18 National Team trials at the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Ralph just completed her third season as head coach of the Vanderbilt women’s basketball team, where she led the Commodores to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in a decade. Vandy went 23-10 overall during the 2023-24 season and 9-7 in SEC play. The 23 wins are the most for the program since the 2011-12 campaign. Vanderbilt set a school record for the most SEC road wins in a season with six.

Indiana women’s basketball head coach Teri Moren will lead Team USA at the 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup, while South Florida’s Jose Fernandez and Notre Dame’s Niele Ivey will serve as assistant coaches.

Trials take place May 16-19 with the 12-member team expected to be announced at the conclusion of trials. The 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup is scheduled for June 17-23 in Bucaramanga, Colombia, and the team will reconvene in Colorado Springs on June 8 for training camp. Twelve athletes represent the graduating class of 2024, while 14 represent the graduating class of 2025. Athletes eligible for this team must be U.S. citizens, born on or after January 1, 2006.

The 2024 FIBA U18 Women’s AmeriCup features eight teams. Recently, FIBA announced that the U.S. drew Group B with Brazil, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The USA will tip off competition June 17 vs. Brazil followed by tilts against Puerto Rico and Mexico on June 18 and 19, respectively.
