GREEN BAY, WIS—Vanderbilt’s past, present and near future were on display on the first day of qualifying at the USBC Queens, a prestigious national tournament that includes young amateurs and veteran professionals alike.
With results of the day not entirely complete, incoming freshman Kris Quah from Singapore had a terrific day to lead Vanderbilt-related bowlers. Quah averaged 222.60 (+113) over six games to temporarily hold down ninth place in the 206 woman field.
Right on her heels was Commodore assistant Josie Earnest, who had a fine 221.60 (+108) average to temporarily rest in tenth place. Veteran professional Kelli Kulick blew away the field Thursday with a 251.60 average (+258).
Other Vandy connections still on the lanes as this was being composed are former All-American Brittni Hamilton, current junior Giselle Poss and incoming freshman Jordan Newham. All three were in plus figures late in their round.
There are more qualifying rounds Friday and Saturday. Complete results can be found on bowl.com.
