A Commitment to Professional Development places a priority on developing work experiences outside of and after intercollegiate sports. The program acquaints student-athletes with the storytelling process, job searching, networking opportunities, and ultimately assists student-athletes in turning their passions into a profession.

Professional Development Programs
Internship Program
The purpose of our internship program is for student-athletes to gain valuable work experience during the summer without the need to be concerned about how basic needs are met. Student-athletes receive a summer stipend to cover room and board if they intern in Nashville over the summer.
Student-athletes forge relationships with companies in the Nashville area and are required to work at least 20 hours per week. On Fridays, the Director of Career Development offers professional development workshops to supplement the student-athletes’ internship experiences.
Black & Gold Club
The Black and Gold Club is Vanderbilt’s athletics alumni network open to all current and former student-athletes, spirit, student managers and student training staff. The Black and Gold Club has the unique opportunity to connect current student-athletes with former Vanderbilt student-athletes for opportunities such as career opportunities, networking sessions and collaborative events.
