BUFFALO, N.Y.—Nicole Powell continues to lead a half-dozen Vanderbilt bowlers at the 2014 Junior Gold Tournament being played over three separate bowling centers here this week.
Powell had a 936 block Tuesday and has a total pin count of 1,974 over 10 games and two days. Her total (197.4 average, -26) trails leader Chenoa Rhoades of Lafayette, Ind., who is averaging 220.2.
Olivia Wirtz is in 41st place (-38) and Amanda Fry 56th (-84) in the tightly bunched field of 300. Incoming freshman Katie Stark is 95th (-130) with Giselle Poss in 120th (-155) and Kendyll Dellinger in 160th (-191).
The big field is trimmed to the top 88 after today’s five games with the champion decided Friday evening. Also at stake are berths on Junior Team USA.
