GAME NOTES: No. 12 Richmond 69, No. 5 Vanderbilt 66
- Vanderbilt led by 11 points in the first half with 5:02 left. Richmond then went on an 8-0 run to pull within three (31-28) with 3:11 remaining before the half.
- Vanderbilt led by nine (48-39) with 15:54 left in the second half. Richmond then went on a 12-0 run with four straight 3-pointers (three by Anderson) to take a 51-48 lead with 12:05 left.
Vanderbilt Notes:
- 12th NCAA Tournament appearance and second straight (9-13 record including today).
- Vanderbilt has now lost three straight NCAA Tournament games when as the higher seed.
- Vanderbilt entered the game allowing opponents to shoot just 30.6 percent from the outside. Today, the Commodores allowed Richmond to shoot 54.5 percent (12-for-22).
- Vanderbilt is 1-5 this season when its opponent makes more 3-point field goals. Richmond had 12 3-pointers’ to Vanderbilt’s six.
- This was Vanderbilt’s third loss this season when outrebounding its opponent (36 to 27).
