– With Beal’s three-pointer at the 17:43 mark in the first half, Vanderbilt extended its streak of consecutive games (701) with a three-pointer, dating back to when the three-point line was established in the 1986-87 season. The Commodores streak ranks second only to UNLV (704) for the longest streak in Division I basketball.
– Vanderbilt took a 7-2 advantage with Festus Ezeli’s free throw with 15:38 remaining in the half
– Vanderbilt went on a 10-0 run to take a 12-point lead (23-11) with Jeffrey Taylor’s four consecutive free throws.
– Charles Hinkle scored his first career points with a three-point basket with 48 seconds remaining in the half. Hinkle’s three-pointer put Vanderbilt up 31-17. The 14-point advantage was their largest lead of the game
– A.J. Ogilvy led the Commodores with nine points at the half while Jeffery Taylor and Jermaine Beal chipped in eight and seven points respectively.

– MTSU started to the second half on a 10-2 run to trim the Vanderbilt lead to six (33-27) with 16:48 remaining in the game
– With Jeffery Taylor’s dunk with 16:21 to play, he became the first Commodore to post a double-double since A.J. Ogilvy’s 17-point, 10-rebound performance against Alabama on March 8, 2008.
– Vanderbilt expanded pushed its lead to 50-37 with Brad Tinsley’s three-pointer with 9:54 remaining.

– With the win, Vanderbilt improves to 2-1 while Middle Tennessee falls to 2-2

– Vanderbilt’s A.J. Ogilvy and Jeffery Taylor posted double-doubles. Ogilvy had 19 points and 11 rebounds while Taylor finished with 13 points and 11 boards. It was the first time two Commodores have recorded double-doubles since Anthony Williams and Matt Freije accomplished that feat versus Birmingham Southern on December 5, 2000.
– Despite the win, Vanderbilt committed 17 turnovers while MTSU only committed 7
– Jermaine Beal posted a solid all-around floor game with 12 points, 4 assists and two steals
