Team Records and Series Notes:
– Vanderbilt improves to 18-4, 3-4 in Southeastern Conference play, while Auburn drops to 12-8, 2-5 in conference play.
– The Commodores now lead the all-time series 76-51, and 45-16 in games played in Nashville.
– Vanderbilt improves to 14-0 at Memorial Gym in the 2007-08 season and including last season, the Commodores have won 27 of its last 28 home games.
– Vanderbilt returns to action on Wednesday night as it travels to Athens, Ga., for a meeting with the Georgia Bulldogs. Tip off from Stegeman Coliseum is set for 6:30 p.m. (CST) and the game will be carried live on the Vanderbilt/ISP Sports Network (radio) with Joe Fisher (play-by-play) and Tim Thompson (analyst).
Vanderbilt Team Notes:
– Key Run: Leading 63-62 with 6:35 remaining, the `Dores scored the next nine points to take a 72-62 advantage. Sophomore guard Jermaine Beal scored seven consecutive points for the Commodores during the run, while freshman Andrew Ogilvy capped the run with a layup.
– Key Stat: Vanderbilt held a decided advantage in field goal percentage. The Commodores shot 27-of-56 (48.2 percent) from the field, while Auburn shot 23-of-62 (37.1 percent) from the floor. Vanderbilt has held all of its opponents to less than 50 percent shooting from the field this season.
– The 25 points allowed by Vanderbilt in the first half tied a season low for first half scoring by the opposition. The Commodores also allowed only 25 points in the opening stanza against Lipscomb. Auburn’s 22.9 percent shooting (8-of-35) from the floor also marked a season low in the first half for a Vanderbilt opponent.
– Vanderbilt won the battle of the boards 38-31. The Commodores have outrebounded their opponents in nine games this season and are unbeaten when doing so.
– Vanderbilt shot 10-of-25 (40.0 percent) from the three-point line in the game. The `Dores have made 10 or more threes in nine games this season.
– Vanderbilt used the starting lineup of Jermaine Beal, Alex Gordon, Shan Foster, Darshawn McClellan and Andrew Ogilvy for the second-consecutive game.
Vanderbilt Individual Notes:
– Senior swingman Shan Foster poured in 16 points to move into second place on the Vanderbilt all-time scoring list with 1,739 points. Foster is 152 points away from tying Matt Freije (2001-04) for the most points scored by a Vanderbilt player in their career. Foster also brought down seven rebounds and had three steals.
– Freshman center Andrew Ogilvy led the Commodores in scoring with 19 points. Ogilvy has scored in double figures in every game except one this season. The freshman also added nine rebounds.
– Senior guard Alex Gordon added 17 points. Gordon shot a perfect 6-of-6 from the foul line and dished out a team-high tying four assists.
– Sophomore guard Jermaine Beal was the fourth Commodore in double figures with 13 points, including nine points in the second half. Beal also added four assists and two steals.
– Sophomore guard George Drake had career-high four blocks in only seven minutes of action.
